I also run because....
~ It makes me happy.
~ It pushes me out of my comfort zone.
~ It makes me feel like a badass.
~ It sets a good example for my girls.
~ It makes me feel young.
~ It gives me an excuse to buy running shoes & clothes...lots of them.
~ It is part of my job as a coach.
~ It gets me outside.
~ It justifies my coffee addiction (sort of?)
~ It gives me a reason to listen to, purchase and share music.
~ It gives me something to talk/write/learn about on a daily basis.
~ It makes me a better wife, mom, friend, & person.
~ It takes me somewhere new (mentally & physically) every time I do it.
~ It's freakin' awesome.
Why do YOU run?

I run...for the joy it brings to my life; for the mental and physical strength I gain from it; for the way it makes me feel like a competitor again; for the mind-clearing space it provides; to set a good example for my three kids and my spouse; for the camaraderie I feel with other runners (mothers especially); because it helps me be the best version of myself that I can possibly be. I thank God simply because I CAN run!
ReplyDeleteI run for my health, to challenge myself and now also to make a difference as a Miles For Miracles runner for Children's Hospital Boston.
ReplyDeleteHi Maureen,
DeleteCongrats! You're the winner of the Oiselle giveaway. Please email me at rebecca.trachsel@yahoo.com so I can get your contact and size information.
Best,
Rebecca
Hi Rebecca,
DeleteI just responded to your email that you sent me. Thank you very much!
I run for the endorphins and to fit into my jeans!
ReplyDeleteI run for connection- to connect with friends and running partners, to connect with the natural world and to connect my feet to the ground!
ReplyDeleteI run now because someday I might not be able to anymore and I want to look back on all the miles and know that I'm better for them.
ReplyDeleteI run because it keeps me sane! And it helps my waistline because I'm addicted to all things with sugar
ReplyDeleteIt's part of my identity. It always makes me feel better. It's fun and the people who love it are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI run because it's freeing, challenging, relaxing, healthy, competitive, exciting, beautiful, and on and on. I just love to run!
ReplyDeleteIt keeps me sane at work...or at least moderately sane
ReplyDeleteAt first I began running because I was inspired by the finishers at the very first race I ever spectated (a marathon!)... now i run to find my own limits and push them. To clear my anger when I've had a bad day. To meet new friends, and of course so I can 'justify' my need for more pizza. :)
ReplyDeleteI run for my health, for the challenge, and for the competition! Love it and I love Oiselle!
ReplyDeleteI run for that feeling of shared excitement when everyone is lined up at the start of a race - full of anticipation and the thought that anything could happen, good or bad, at the beginning of the race as well as to experience the same shared feelings of glory or defeat at the end of a race - that's living!
ReplyDeleteYou said it! My reasons are here on my blog:

One of the big ones I missed in my post is the friendships and comradery of the running community!
I run to keep myself sane, to make friends, and to honor the memories of the people I've lost.
ReplyDeleteI run because it reminds me that I'm stronger than I think!
ReplyDeleteI run because it makes me feel strong, healthy, and happy! It's a great stress-reliever too!
ReplyDeleteI run for the connection!! Connection to myself, through social media, and with nature :D
ReplyDeleteI run because it makes me feel strong and confident and because I can't imagine my life without running. Running has forever changed my life.
ReplyDeleteI run because so much is out of my control, but how many miles I run is completely up to me.
ReplyDeleteI run because it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI run because it is a new mid-life challenge. I run to push myself.
ReplyDeleteI run because I love it and it makes my body feel good!
ReplyDeleteI run because I love it! It's hard but rewarding and makes me feel so much better about myself then I could have ever imagined!
ReplyDeleteI run to challenge myself and because running helps me love my body for what it can do, not what it looks like.
ReplyDeleteI run because I have to- its part of me. I run for the silence it brings my head and body. I run because it makes me happy!
ReplyDeleteI run to listen to podcasts/music that I never make the time to listen to otherwise. And to sweat/get my blood pumping!
